Lithium Ore
Lithium is an air-reactive alkali metal that tarnishes fast to a dull silvery-grey and finally black. It is a silvery-white to grey alkali metal with a metal-lic luster when new. At 20 °C, it has the lowest density of all the elements that are not gases, is the lightest metal, and can float on water.
Features Of Lithium Ore
While a typical spodumene concentrate appropriate for the manufacturing of lithium carbonate typically includes 6-7% Li2O (75%–87% spodumene), a typical run-of-mine ore can contain as little as 1-2% Li2O. Ceramics and other demanding sectors employ higher quality concentrates with 7.6% Li2O and low iron concentration.
